Paper, vertical scroll. The original work has no signature or seal. Collected seals: “Li Jian’ seal”, “collection of Huanhua Hall”, “Huang Danshu’s seal”, “Xiaorong'an Hall”, “Qiubo Hall”. The poem Admiring the Chrysanthemums) written by Chen Xianzhang in the cursive script reads: “Several clusters shine on mountains and waters, and they look particularly charming in high pavilions. With a lasting cold scent, they are used ornaments everywhere.” This piece was formerly collected by Li Xiangen, and donated by Li Xiangen's eldest son-in-law Wang Yejin in 2008..
Chen Xianzhang (1428-1500), also known as Gongfu, from Xinhui Guangdong, was a candidate official scholar in 1447 (Ming dynasty), but failed in the ministry-level examination. He was later well known in the capital for poems. Many scholars visited him after his return. He was named “Wengong” by an imperial order during Ming Emperor Wanli's reign, and wrote Baisha Collection, etc..
